more than a calling card but not your whole calling,
your book is ORANGE on the Clarity Spectrum.

here's what that means.

You want to reach new readers by offering a fresh take on a familiar challenge.

This book reframes how people think and opens the door to your bigger vision.

Meet the
Magnetic Perspective

Ever hear something reframed so clearly it unlocks a door you didn’t even know was closed? That’s what a Magnetic Perspective book does.

This book isn’t shouting into the void, but it's also not preaching to the choir. It's tilting the lens just enough to shift how your reader sees a problem, a process, or even themselves—forever

Magnetic Perspective books start with something your readers think they already understand, then helps them see it in a way they’ve never considered before.

They get under the skin in the best way possible. Not by spelling out every last detail, but by creating just enough space for readers to feel like they've discovered something powerful on their own. And in a lot of ways, they have.

When readers close this kind of book, they don’t just walk away with new ideas. They leave with a shifted perspective that can't be unseen—and more than a little curiosity about the person who helped them see it.

what you need to know about writing a magnetic perspective

A Magnetic Perspective book has its own specific needs, pitfalls, and expectations. Here's what you can look for along the way.

You'll need: A strong sense of your reader’s pain point or frustration.

You can expect: To lead them through a mental and emotional reframe, not always a how-to. You won't fix the problem for them, but you will help them see it clearly enough to approach it differently.

You'll need: A clearly articulated way of seeing the world.

You can expect:  Readers who hesitate to let go of their old perspective. You can’t rush their transformation, but you can make sure the invitation for change is clear, grounded, and waiting for them when they're ready.

You'll need: Trust that the shift will land without over-explaining it.

You can expect: To wrestle with whether the book feels “helpful enough.” Let your lived insight do the heavy lifting—your clarity is what makes space for theirs.

You'll need: A natural next-step pathway (newsletter, workshop, coaching, etc.).

You can expect: Some, but not all, readers will want more of your perspective. Be ready to welcome them.

Watch out for…

Turning the whole book into a manifesto. Your perspective is powerful, but readers need space to engage with your perspective from their own pain point, not to be preached at.

The tendency to slip too far into teaching or doing mode. This isn’t about proving your expertise. It’s about shifting their way of seeing the world. Let the clarity of your lens lead the way.

Overloading your message with disclaimers. Not everyone will get it right away. Some won't get it at all. That doesn’t mean you’re wrong. It means you’re early.

1. What is your reader feeling right now that makes this perspective necessary?

2. What misunderstandings or old ways of thinking keep us from fully addressing this problem?

3. What perspective or insight do you most want to "click" for your reader?

4. What will make this insight feel so clear for your reader that they won't be able to unsee it?

5. What will change in the reader's world after they see it in this new light? (Tell the whole truth!)

What's Next?

Whatever book you’re building, it’s easy to overthink the next step. Or any step. All of the steps. It happens.

Here’s the simplest way to stay connected to what matters most. Simply—and frequently—ask yourself:

  • How does this book fit into my larger work in the world?

  • What would help my reader most in this moment?

These two questions will keep you aligned every time you start to second-guess.

And when you’re ready for deeper support, here are two more ways to keep moving at your pace, in your way.
